As you may know, we recently opened our Pro Plus member area. It was always in our business plan to offer this member area as a way to include additional guidance and more in-depth tutorials to those who are building their online businesses and blogs.
This article will show you one way that we’re marketing our new member area. The image below is a dead giveaway, but please read on to see why we’re doing what we’re doing with video.
One of the critical steps involved in building our business is marketing. Marketing by all means necessary. One of the best parts of building an online business yourself, or with a team, is that even if you don’t have a large marketing budget (and let’s face it, most of us don’t), you CAN STILL be competitive within your industry.
Marketing courses and programs in college, like the ones described on Online Marketing Degree often fail to emphasize the importance of pushing the creative envelope. The trick is to look for creative solutions that won’t break the bank, and as Seth Godin says, to “poke the box” and try various methods. Which is what we did, and what this article is about.
You may think I’m going to start talking about social media marketing…again. I won’t. Don’t take that statement the wrong way. Social marketing is a valuable tool, but we’ll leave that conversation for another day.
Off the Wall with Video
I’m talking about video marketing, and more specifically, I’m talking about marketing your site, your business, and your products in a way that people might not expect, and in a way that cost us very little.

Video + Promotion = Traffic and Brand Recognition
We’ve used this video somewhat sparingly so far as we are closely monitoring the traffic results and the path those visitors take through our site. In other words, we’re in data collection mode but I can tell you…this video is working and we are seeing a noticeable increase in visitor engagement.
The more visitors come to us and the longer they stay on our site, means that they have the potential to remember us, what we’re about, and what we have to offer them.

It’s not just the actual video that engages people, it’s also the features that we’re implementing within and around the video.
- If you look closely, you’ll notice that this video is not embedded from our YouTube channel (although it’s there too).
- You might also notice the social sharing icons built in. Pretty snazzy eh? We think so.
