If you have a specific visual that is the embodiment one of your posts or pages and you want it to catch the reader’s attention by being the featured image this short video will demonstrate these easy instructions. It’s almost too easy and you can set this up in just a few clicks of your mouse.
Setting Your Featured Image
When you are creating a page or a post on the edit screen you will need to scroll down to the bottom of your right-hand side modules and click on set featured image. You can do this at any time during the creation of your post or page.
File Selection
Next, a new window will pop up that will allow you to upload an image from your computer, from another website or URL, or from the media library. If you have already uploaded an image to this page or post then you can select one of them from your gallery.
Edit Options
Once you have chosen an image from one of these options, you can edit the title, the alternate text (your readers won’t see this), it’s caption, and the description. Once you are satisfied with your changes, scroll down and click on use as featured image. A little below that you will need to click on save all changes.
Don’t Forget to Save
Once you have saved all your changes you will see your featured image at the bottom of the right-hand side bar of your edit page to make sure you are happy with the image you selected. Make sure you have saved your changes or you will have to do it over.
If your WordPress theme is setup to use this feature then this image will be used to represent you post or page and will be ready to grab attention from your readers.
