Marketing your business online is one of the most important parts of running your WordPress website. For some, us included, exactly how to manage online marketing and all the different choices available are a bit of a mystery. At the very least, it was confusing and difficult to keep it all straight in our heads.
The folks over at Unbounce, builders of a very useful A/B testing service, have come up with an infographic that helps to explain the many different areas of online marketing and segments them in an easy-t-to-understand way. (see this graphic further down)
What Is Online Marketing?
Internet marketing, also known as web marketing, online marketing, or e-marketing, is referred to as the marketing (generally promotion) of products or services over the Internet. iMarketing is used as an abbreviated form for Internet Marketing.
Internet marketing is considered to be broad in scope[citation needed] because it not only refers to marketing on the Internet, but also includes marketing done via e-mail and wireless media. Digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems are also often grouped together under internet marketing.

When we first started getting familiar with marketing on the Internet, we thought the only marketing to be done was by purchasing ads through tools like AdWords. As the years went by we expanded into learning about marketing on social sites like Facebook and Twitter (just to name two). We only realized a couple years ago that we were completely missing out on several others ways to market online.
One of those ways is by using Infographics.
What Is an Infographic?
In short, an Infographic is a visual rendering of information in the form of an image. As a marketing tool, Infographics are incredibly useful because of the potential of social sharing. Images make a much larger impact on sharing than text does. Here’s a further definition:
Information graphics or infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics present complex information quickly and clearly, such as in signs, maps, journalism, technical writing, and education.
With an information graphic, computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians develop and communicate concepts using a single symbol to process information.

How Does WordPress Make Online Marketing Easier?
WordPress is the most popular Open Source publishing platform on the planet. Because of this, the majority of tools used in the various categories of Internet Marketing offer tight integration with WordPress through the use of plugins and even themes.
You can think of your WordPress powered site as the hub of a wheel. That’s where all your core content is created and stored. Now think of the various Internet Marketing channels as the spokes of that wheel, all connected to the hub. With the proper WordPress and plugin setup, you can essentially “feed” your content out to all your other online marketing channels such as the options found in the Infographic below.
