Maintenance Mode
If you’re a Wordpress beginner or even an experienced modder, this plugin is a super useful tool when your working on your blog or WP-powered website. If you’re designing a website for a client and don’t want them to see a “work in progress”, Maintenance Mode will quickly become on of your most used plugins. It adds a splash page to your blog that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenance. If you’re logged in as administrator you get full access to the blog including the front-end. You can also customize the splash page and add whatever you need to get your message across to your visitors while hiding the main site. Visit Michael Woehrer’s site to get it.
What Would Seth Godin Do
This plugin is great for helping to build your RSS or email subscriber list, or for providing information targeted to new visitors. The best part is that it does so in an unobtrusive, but very useful way. By default, new visitors to your blog will see a small box above each post containing the words “If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!” After 3 visits the message disappears. You can customize this message, its lifespan, and its location. You can find it at Richard K. Miller’s site here.
Wordpress Database Backup
Three words…Backup, Backup, Backup! It’s by Austin Matzko and you can find it here.
