Quality Content Equals Loyal Community

We Speak From Experience

We know, we’ve been through it and continue to experiment with different techniques of marketing our businesses online. It can be overwhelming but at the same time, it can be very rewarding. Both in terms of generating traffic and conversions but also with having a lot of fun by creating something unique that attracts attention.

Online Marketing Techniques

There are dozens of opportunities for marketing your website online. Some of those include the following:

  • PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising)
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Comments on Authority Sites and Forums (creating backlinks)
  • Facebooks Ads
  • Video Marketing
  • …and the list goes on and on…

In this article we’ll talk about a technique that we are using with video in order to market our site, and more specifically, our Pro Plus membership. If you’re not a Pro Plus member, please have a look at the benefits. We think you’ll find it very affordable and we share the revenue collected with Kiva.org.

Video Marketing with Puppets

If you’ve been following us here, on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+, you’ve likely seen a video featuring Professor Hans Von Puppet. We learned of The Professor some time ago and knew we wanted to hire him as a spokesperson for WP Pro Business, but we wanted to do it in such a way that it would make sense, and not cost us a fortune.

Growing business here folks, consider a Pro Plus membership😉

How Much Did it Cost Us?

How much do you think it cost us for the video above? $100? $300? $500?

That video (and subsequent videos we’ve purchased) cost us only…

Five Dollars!

Yes, you read that correctly. $5 bucks. Now, some of you may already be aware of where we could get such high quality video marketing promotion for such a low price, but if you don’t know, it’s a website named Fiverr.com.

Fiverr.com is a site where people offer “Gigs” that they will complete for five dollars. These aren’t just promotional video Gigs like our friend The Professor. There are a number of Gigs that don’t involve promotion at all.

You can find any one of the following Gigs being offered:

The examples above are only a small sample. Half the fun of browsing through Fiverr.com is looking at all the stuff people are willing to do. Admittedly, there are a lot of Gigs offered that are just plain silly, but there are many that we’ve ordered that have had a very positive effect on our business.

Our Favorite Gig So Far

As you browse through the site, you will certainly see a lot of Gigs offering to send you “X” amount of traffic from Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc. Our advice is to take these with a grain of salt, but also to keep an open mind and do a little research on the person offering the Gig to see if you can find out if they really have such a large following or can meet the promises they make.

BE CAREFUL! Many of these traffic boosting offers can have very negative consequences on your site. If the provider is using “black hat” SEO tactics, your site will likely be penalized by Google.

Diamond in the Rough

We’ve done our research and have been happy with the results of a Gig offered by Clix-Cents. However, looking at the screenshot of their Gig offer page, you might think we’re getting suckered.

Too Good to Be True?

4,000 Unique Visitors? What’s the Catch?

First, you should know that this Gig delivers exactly what it promises and sometimes more, but that depends a bit on you (more on that in a moment).

Have a look at our visitor stats for a five day period back in June. This is proof that traffic is definitely coming our way, and looking at the Bounce Rate below, you can see that visitors are not leaving from the same page they landed on.

They are exploring other parts of the site, and that’s exactly what we want.

There is a Catch…Understanding (and planning for) the Source of Traffic

I don’t really consider this a “catch” because Clix-Cents.com isn’t trying to fool anyone. The key to benefiting from their traffic is to understand why their users are visiting in the first place.

How Clix-Cents Sends Traffic

Clix-Cents users get paid for clicking links that are listed on the Clix-Cents website. The incentive for the user is to make money. You would think this has no benefit to you (or us), but by understanding the way the Clix-Cents process works and combining that with a bit of creativity and experimentation on where you send these users when they click a link, you can create a nice conversion rate.

When a user clicks a link, they are taken to whatever URL you’ve specified. In our case, we sent users to our Quick Start Guide to Business Blogging landing page.

The user then MUST be on that page for 20 seconds before they get credit for being there. A progress bar counts down the time and when finished, the user must type in a series of numbers manually in order for Clix-Cents to know they’re not a robot trying to game the system.

How Does This Help Us?

20 seconds is a lot of time. What do you suppose these users are looking at when waiting for the timer to tick down? Your page content of course!

Now this is where the experimentation and creativity on your part comes into play. If you have a visitor’s undivided attention for 20 seconds, what would you tell them?

How would you convince them to learn more about you? To sign up for your newsletter? To download your ebook?
